Favorite Product #1

I am a skin care junkie. I can easily admit it I have bathroom shelves full of products and more in the closet. My husband just loves it, hahaha.  I have made my living in the skincare/beauty industry for that last 20 years.  I love it.  I put myself through college working as a makeup artist for several high end lines. I then moved to outside sales, started in hair care and then found skin care. I cannot imagine doing anything else.  Along the way I got my Master Esthetician license and worked at a med spa as well as a couple other amazing places and I’ve found some favorite products and devices. I also love to share my knowledge and favorites with my peeps.  I mean sharing is caring right?  I also love to learn.  This industry is constantly changing and growing and I am always trying to keep up.

So, one of my most favorite skin care lines,  in full disclosure I did work for them a while back, is Apothederm Skin Care.  They are part of a bio tech company that creates and manufactures peptides (those awesome ingredients that do so much for the skin).  They sell the peptides to companies that then use them in their skin care products.  Obviously the next step is to have your own skin care line with your fabulous peptides in it.  So that is what they did.  There are some spas that carry the line, but you can easily get it directly from them at http://www.apothederm.com I’d like to tell you I have a favorite, but really they are all great.  Right now I am obsessed with the Bright Skin Serum because I seem to have some age related acne happening as well as aging happening, so not fair.  The Bright Skin Serum has the Oligiopeptide-10 that helps with the acne and then also helps with pigmentation (those dang sun spots) as well.  It feels a bit tingly when you put it on, I like that.  And it works, I like that even more.

The amazing peeps that run the show at Apothederm said that if you order online and use TIFF20 in the promo code, you will get 20% off. It doesn’t have to be the Bright Skin Serum either.

That is all for Tiff’s Favorite Product #1   Bright Skin Serum

Why Spanish?

My mom was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s a few months ago.  It has rocked our world to say the least.  When we first started suspecting that this was happening I started doing some research.  One of the things that came up consistently was that learning a foreign language can help ward off this ugly disease.  I immediately told my husband and son that we were going to learn Spanish together.  Meanwhile, in my professional life I was laid off from my job, due to a company restructuring.  (I am still a huge advocate of microcurrent as an anti aging tool and promote @mynuface all the time).  I’m having a challenge finding another job, I am a successful sales & education rep with a Master Esthetician license, but I DO NOT HAVE MY Bachelors Degree.  I am ONE specific course away from completing it.  Guess what that specific class is?  You are got it… 3rd year Spanish!

All that leads up to me needing to FINALLY take that dang class.  There is simply no way I can just walk into a 3 year Spanish and think I could bumble my way through. So here I am taking Speed Spanish 1 trying to play catch up so I can take that online Spanish 3 in January… it is SO HARD!  It has been 30+ years since I’ve taken a Spanish class.  I am here to tell you, that vocabulary is not easy to remember. I’m making myself flash cards to keep in the car so I can practice at stop lights or while I’m waiting for the kiddo.

The lesson I’m learning in this.  Funny how things all work together and it is NEVER to late to get that degree.  Just hoping those awesome opportunities are still out there when I’m done and have that degree!

Have a great week and go out and so something you’ve been wanting to do! It’s not too late!

Friends

I am super lucky to have a cache of amazing friends.  That has been even more evident the last few months.  I’ve had some LIFE happening. Got laid off from my job (more on this fun time later) had some health issues with my Mom, adjusting to a “new normal” there and I have a teenage son… that may be the most challenging of all LOL.  What has been amazing is the amount of much support I have had. Friends I have not spoken to in years, reaching out & checking in to see how they can help.  It has been so great to reconnect with these “golden” friends.   They make my life a better place.  I am so grateful for all of them.

What has become very apparent to me is the value in these friendships. I think maybe I have taken them for granted the last few years.  I feel like I have ignored the importance of maintaining/nurturing those relationships.  I know life is busy for all of us and we don’t have time to spend with everyone on a regular basis.  But the super cool thing about the internet… yah, you can send a quick email or a text or a Face Book message or all the bazillions of other ways to connect, say hi, let someone know you are thinking about them or checking in, find out what is going on in their lives.  I have been very thankful for this lately.

So whether it’s an old “golden” friend, one of those that knows where are the bodies are buried, or a newer friend, connected by kiddos or work, take a moment to nurture thost friendships.  They are precious.

So it begins…

I’ve been encouraged for YEARS to start a blog. I’ve had lots of excuses- What would I even write about?  I’m not a writer?  I’m way too busy?  Well, I’ve found myself with some extra time on my hands and life has changed a LOT in the last 9 months and I see it changing even more in the next few years.  I thought instead of a journal (which I’ve NEVER actually written in more than a couple of times) I’d start a blog… take you along on my journey.

I don’t REALLY know what direction this will go or what I’m doing, but I invite you to come along.  I’m sure I’ll talk about favorite skin care products and treatments, what to do with a 13 year old boy, learning to deal with significant changes in my parents health, working in the beauty industry over the age of 50.

I’ve bought the domain for a year, I’m committed… lets hope this is better than the gym membership I’ve use 3 times in the last 2 years…

Have a great weekend, talk to you next week,

PS let me know if you have a topic…  🙂
